AWANA GRAND PRIX

Build cars. Build relationships. Build excitement!

The T&T and Sparks Clubbers participate in the Annual Grand-Prix Race event.  Clubbers build their own Awana Grand Prix cars at home with the help of their parents.

After selecting the design, it is suggested that the parents do the cutting and any planing and rough sanding. Clubbers can do the finish sanding and painting!

We have a group workshop event a few weeks before the race with power equipment and experienced designers to provide assistance as needed.

Cars are judged on both Speed AND Design.

Speed Event - This will consist of a single round for each racing group. The 4 fastest finishers, based on average time, will receive trophies.

Design Event - All cars will be evaluated for representation (how well the car resembles what it is meant to be), originality, and creativity.  Two design categories allow for twice as many winners.  Cars can be entered into either 'Cars that Look Like an Automobile' or 'Cars that Look Like Something Other Than an Automobile' categories.  The top 4 finishers in each category receive a trophy.

Please see the official rules provided with your kit and there are also lots of tips and tricks on the web. You can start at Grand-Prix Race Central or see the steps to building a car on this video.

Just remember the most important rule: enjoy the time with your friends and family and HAVE FUN!
